Web page to notes FAQ

Quick answers on links, limits and downloading your notes.

How do I turn a web page into notes?

Copy the page’s link, paste it into the box at the top of this page and select Get notes. The web page to notes tool reads the page and gives you short notes with the key points.

Is the web page to notes tool free?

Yes. It is free and needs no account. There is a limit per visitor, shared across the free tools. If you reach it, the page tells you how long to wait.

Do I need an account?

No. You can get, copy and download notes without signing up. You need a free account to ask about the page, make flashcards or save it to your library.

Which pages work?

Public http and https pages with text, such as articles and guides. Pages behind a login, private addresses and sites that block automated visits do not work.

Does it work with a link to a PDF?

No. A link to a PDF file finds no page text. Download the PDF and upload it to PDF to notes instead.

Why can’t it read my page?

The page may be private, need a login, block automated visits, or return an error. Copy the text and paste it into Text to notes instead.

How long can the page be?

A very long page may not fit in full. If that happens, parts are left out and the page tells you.

What do the notes include?

The key points from the page, written as short lines that are quick to revise from. The free notes do not link back to parts of the page.

Can I download the notes?

Yes. Copy them in one click, or download them as a TXT or Markdown file to revise offline.

What happens to the link I paste?

A third-party service fetches the page, and a third-party AI model writes the notes. Those providers’ own data policies apply. Gistr keeps the result for up to 30 days, so the same page gets the same result faster.

What is Gistr?

Gistr is an AI knowledge companion that turns YouTube videos, podcasts, articles and PDFs into knowledge you keep. Ask questions and get answers that cite the exact source, make notes, slides and flashcards, and keep everything in one searchable library.
